Has there ever been an AK/AR hybrid that uses an AK bolt & carrier...
Has there ever been an AK/AR hybrid that uses an AK bolt & carrier, left side charging handle, with AR type lower or at least mags that insert straight in?
In other words, an AK action in 223/5.56 with AR like ergo controls (except for the charging handle)

Closest I've seen to that description would be the old "Robinson Arms XCR".

There's one called the ARC. The M10X is close, but uses a SIG style piston/spring arrangement.

The Galil is a combination of the "best" features of both rifles. The Robinson looks very much like a copy of it.

SIG 55x series is exactly that.
The upper is a refined AK action: better sights, recoil spring moved to gas tube, etc. The lower, in many versions, takes standard AR magazines and has AR ergonomics, such as the selector and magazine release. http://www.sigsauer.com/upFiles/cata...etail-Hero.jpg

You guys are right. The Sig 55x does have a lot of the good features of the AK. I've never really looked too much into it before.

The Daewoo and the "old"RA XCR are good examples of excellent hybrids. I own both of them so I can attest to the qualities of each. The newer XCR's are quite possibly the best of their kind ever developed. In my humble opinion, they are much more refined and capable than the SCAR and ACR, which came after the XCR. Rock solid platform, but I can also say that of the Daewoo K2. Only thing about the K2 is that accessories are pretty expensive.

That sounds a lot like the new Faxon Arms ARAK which was recently released.

Doesn't the Daewoo K2 have an AR style bolt?

DMK:
A good breakdown of the XCR in .308 is on Youtube, performed by a young lady who has made numerous gun videos: "faliaphotography". |
