Which Sig?

So if all goes well and I can convince the boss, we are going to do the Sig Sauer Commemorative Program for my Unit on our upcoming deployment. Problem is what to choose lol! Out of the 7 listed the P226 in .40 is the only one ive tested. I read great things on all on the list. The P250 will be the cheapest and of course the 1911 will be the most. So any and all input will be greatly appreciated. Plus I can share the info with those interested.

Thanks

Hey, not familiar with the Sig Sauer Commemorative Program can you provide details?

As for choices I voted P229 since I feel it provides the most versatility. I own one and it is a great shooter and still pretty easy to carry concealed. I would go with 9mm as a caliber choice simply for price and availability.

A couple of my buddies have done it on previous Deployments. And I wish I was with them, lol! Sounds like a good deal and plus its another pistol for me!

I do believe that everyone should own a P220. Great pistol for a great round. My second choice would be the P229. Own both and both are great pistols. But each does have it's own uses. Either way, just own a Sig will be great.

I have a 226 that has some years on it, but it still runs perfect. Probably can't miss with any of the options though.

I voted P220. Awesome gun. A close second would be the 1911.

I'm surprised they don't have the SP2022. That would have been my number one.

They took the 2022 off of the list.

I'd vote 226 in 9mm. Mine is the most reliable pistol I have and accuracy is fantastic. However, I just got a Sig 1911 and was suffering from a bit of buyers remorse. That was until I went to the range. By far my most accurate pistol now and the recoil of the .45 was far less than I expected.

Are all of the models interchangeable like the P250? (update) did my homework, looks like the 250 is frame interchangeable, where as the others are slide interchangeable. So I would assume the 250 is slide interchangeable as well. Making it a dang Swiss Army knife pistol, LOL!

I'd stick with either the 220 or the 226, depending upon which caliber the guys I'm your unit want to go with. The bigger guns leave more room for engraving, and to me they just seem more appropriate.

What type of deployment? Also what are your caliber restrictions. For 9mm/40 S&W I'd go with a P229 because it's small enough to be out of the way yet big enough to be accurate and hold enough rounds. I know the USCG issues P229DAK so somewhere it's listed on the TOE.

As of now open to all Calibers, but if the Govt goes crazy with any new laws that may change(mainly mag capacity).

Not on your list, but my vote is for the P228 in 9mm. It's just a cut down version of the P226, but will take standard P226 mags also. I have 4 sigs (P6, P226 in .357, P228 and P220) and like the P228 as being the best well-rounded. My second choice is the P220 (maybe first if ammo cost no consideration). With the P220 I can shoot 24 oz cans at 50 yards, but I can chase an 8" ball at 100yds with the P228.

I took a course at the Sig Sauer Academy a few years ago and got to handle all of the Sigs side by side. Even though I have relatively small hands I found the 226 more balanced and comfortable than the 229. I have the E2 version with the slimmer grip, night sights, short reset trigger and other enhancements. Love the gun. Also love the Sig 1911 Tacops that I own.

I have the P220, P226, and 1911 XO. All are amazing guns.

Now, my question to you is...Why would you set up such a torturous post?

Tough call.....My only Sig is a relatively new P220 Match Elite and I really like it so far ! I think my next Sig will be either a 1911 or p220 in the carry size with fixed night sights......wish list !

Tough call. I would lean toward the P229 in 9mm.

I have a few P250s and a 1911 Ultra. All have been excellent.

You can't hardly do wrong.

I voted P226. I have the 9mm. Since I bought mine, at least a dozen other handguns have come and gone for one reason or another. If it comes down to only one left, it'll be the P226. Accurate, dependable, easy shooting, bang every single pull of the trigger since I've owned it. About six years now.

I don't hit the range as much as I should, but it was once a week for a couple of years with the P226. Never let me down.

I also had a P220 that I loved, but when I was shooting it, I was wishing it was the P226.

I had a 220, didn't float my boat. I like the 229 much better...more hand filling.

God's speed brother, be safe. The P229 or 226 would be my choice, (226 is kinda big but easy to shoot.)

I have only one Sig and it is the P220, so that is what I voted for.

Good luck to you and your unit on the upcoming deployment.
