Apparently I love .45acp now

Just picked up a Glock 30 today. Decided it would be a much better CCW than the S&W 645 I got earlier. It was between the G21 and the G30. I went with the G30 for size reasons.

I got it brand new and it is stiff as hell, I really need to break it in. Since ammo right now is very scarce is there any way to artificially break the gun in without actually firing it?

Also I know you all know what a G30 looks like but is is obligatory that I post a pic, so here she is:

It is seximus maximus, and the .45 ACP round is a favorite of mine, too. As for "artificial break-in", maybe just cycle by hand, dry fire, etc. $.25 trigger job and it should be good to go.

Yeah, I guess I could cycle it over and over again. I'll have to do it when my wife is at work otherwise i'm sure she will get annoyed.

I actually like the stock Glock trigger, and it is my carry gun so I wouldn't modify it anyway.

Locking the slide back for a few days might help a little to relax the slide spring. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

I may do that at night when I am in bed. The rest of the time the G30 is on my hip. Why are all of these people hoarding ammo? Ammo is not going to be banned. Leave some for the rest of us!

There is no rational reason not to love the 45 ACP.

Those 30's are excellent pistols.

Always been a fan of .45 ACP but, not so much a 1911 fan.

I have quickly become a big Glock fan after buying a G20. Still love the trigger better on my new XDM .45 but, I think my buddy likes it more then I do and he is buying it. No more .45? I will think about another one down the road maybe.

This does not help.

I can't afford anything.

All the while, I want a CZ V58, I want a CZ 550 Varmint and to top it all, I've recently, inexplicably, started hankering for a .45ACP G30 or G36, and you go and post this....

... where's your sense of social responsibility?!

Enjoy your new purchase (said through clenched teeth )

You're telling me....I just went to the gun show today here in Miami, FL...Sorry for the double post after this. I'm posting a pic from my phone. It's been insane.

I walked out with a 700 lumen flashlight... -__- yay...

Anyways, awesome buy man. Really happy for you! Rack the slide on that puppy a punch of times. Nice and hard...like you're loading in a round. It'll break in just fine. Congrats!!

Miami-Dade County, Florida gun show. Entrance only. 1 hour to get in and as you were in line. Ammo boxes and carts were walking out the door.

Bite the bullet and shoot. There is no amount of hand-cycling or tricks that will work as well as just shooting it and you need to know where your gun shoots anyway. It will be worth it when the gun is broke in and functions properly.

@Old Grump

I would love to shoot it but all I can find is JHP ammo. I cannot afford to shoot all of that up. I will just have to wait until the ammo gets resupplied.

Ban, no. But legislation is being written as we speak to create a paper trail for ammo purchases and quantity restrictions to be put in place.

So. That's no reason to hoard it. I want to go to the range and fire my CCW piece and I cannot because there is no practice ammo anywhere. It sucks.

You are in Missouri. Bet you a brand new dollar bill you aren't far from a gun club or a gun store where somebody knows a reloader. Even if he doesn't have any on hand if you can dig up the brass I bet he could load up some hardball, even cast lead RN with a light practice load will work. It would be a shame to have the gun on your Home Defense inventory and not be able to trust it because you haven't fired the kinks out of it. It's a nice gun, I'd be scratching and digging.

Ok, twist my arm will ya.

I'll look harder. On an unrelated note, my wife is due in less than 8 weeks! I can't wait to meet our daughter.

Congrats on the new daughter, Nocturnus.

WalMarts in Central MO are getting spotty shipments of Tula .45, but mine tells me they don't have any idea when the shipments are coming. Here at least, you need to check in 3-4 times a week to grab any. I had a several boxes of .40 put back and am currently grabbing a box or two when they've got 'em, just to stay topped off.

Atta boy for the bambino. Side note, another good reason to get the gun broke in now, in a few weeks you shooting time is going to be severely curtailed by more important issues.

Uh-huh, ugly little sucker just like all of em. I've got her stubby sister the 29 along with their offspring the 26. .45 ACP is definitely my favorite center-fire, just don't happen to have any in Glock flavor. Good choice though.

Ordered a Serpa holster off ebay for my G30. I had one for my G19 and loved it but unfortunately the G30 did not fit it.

Also, this is my 1000th post on here.

Congrats! Lol.

If you haven't followed my posts. Days ago (Sunday) I became a new owner of a Glock 30sf myself. haven't shot it yet. But racked the slide about 200 times and fired it with a snap cap in there a dozen times. Really really like what the Glock 30 brings to the table. 11 rounds of the hard hitting .45ACP in that small package.

I'm no modifying it in any way shape or form. Because it will be my carry gun. However. I do want to get it night sights. I want something different though.

Wanna go night sight shopping together?! Lol. I'm not kidding. Lets do this. We'll post the outcome right here.

I also saw you got rid of a Glock 19 too. I'm curious as to why? Mine was a gen 4. All I really need to say. It went towards my G30

I like the 9mm but nothing says "don't mess with me" like staring down the barrel of a .45. I was looking for a G30 or G21 over the weekend but came across two W. German Sig P220s's that were too cheap to pass up.
