My symptoms are coming back!!!!!!!!!

Restlessness, anxiety, constant searching for information on .44 special revolvers . . . .

Saw this one on Guns America for $850 and now I want one. I like case hardened frames. I did not know that S&W even made a revolver that had a case hardened frame.

See what you have done?

The knives in my picture are a dark handled Bob Dozier hunter that I bought from Bob many years ago. It holds an edge that is unbelievable. The white handled knife was made for me by Gene Ingram (google him he has great knives). He generally makes hunting style knives but I asked him to make that knife for me. It is double edged and has linen micarta handles (fake ivory). Gene makes great knives and they are priced right for what you get!

I have been shooting handguns for going on 50 years, and have never had a "real" .44Spl revolver...till a few weeks ago.

I was browsing a LGS and found a slightly used Charter Arms Bulldog for $249, so I bought it. I like it a lot.
( I also have 2 new CA Off Duty DAO .38 Spls that are extremely accurate shooters)

SO, I was browsing and online gun shop (See the drift here..) and bought a very nice S&W Model 21-4...should be here this week.

I also know where there is a stainless 6" Smith .44 Spl that is still in the factory grease....Hmmmmm...

I have two .44 special, both examples of the Charter Arms Bulldog. Both are great little guns.

One is a vintage model, made in the early 80s at the Stratford, CT factory. Just got it last month for $269 after it showed up as a trade-in at my LGS. Installed a set of NOS wood Bulldog grips on it to replace the rubber aftermarket grips that were on it.

My other one (and my daily carry piece) is my current production Bulldog in stainless with 2.5" barrel. It's wearing vintage Bulldog wood grips in the pic, and I polished the cylinder and barrel to a satin look from the original bead blast finish.

Don't toss the rubber grip. You may want to go back to it after shooting with the wood.

Noe sports all steel grip frame, ejector housing with crescent ejector rod head and walnut grips by Cary Chapman (CLC grips). Conversion by Dave Clements.

I also owned a Charter Arms bulldog in 44 Special for a time. It was easy to conceal and fairly comfortable to pack. At the time I worked part time as a pizza delivery driver. But it was sold when I moved on.

I added two Cap and ball revolvers, they may not be 44 specials but they are special 44’s to me,,, I could have added half a dozen more.
The problem with 44 specials is that you can never have enough and never them all, but I am trying to.

The S&W 329PD is a light weight .44 magnum revolver that is fierce to fire .44 magnums in, but is a great light weight .44 Special shooter. Having a second caliber that will work, even if painful to shoot, can be a life saver.

I picked up a consecutive pair of Rugers from a shop in Texas two weeks ago, then immediately decided I needed a backup, so found a 3rd one at a shop in Tucson and took possession of it six days ago.

There weren't many made, maybe 600 or so of each model (stainless/blue 3 1/2" - 4 5/8"), but they were a hard sell for some reason, so I got all three for under $500 per copy; $489 ea for the pair and $498 for the single. The Texas shop told me, "We've had them for two years and can't get rid of them", so they were quite happy to sell me both of them.

These started out as 6.5" Fourth Model 44 Special Targets. Shipped in April and August of 1955. One went to St. Louis and the other to New Orleans. In 1970 they were in the possession of the same owner who sent them to S&W and one had its barrel cut to 5" while the other received a replacement 5" barrel. Maybe the last one they had in inventory since the other was cut rather than replaced.

I bought them in 2005. I bought one and when I told my wife about seeing the pair and buying one she said "Why didn't you get both?" I couldn't think of a good answer so I called the dealer and bagged the second one.

Picked this up around 1987 or so. Wife got me the ivory stocks for my birthday a few years back.
