Early Savage 1907 .32
My father and I have a Savage 1907 .32 auto that seems to be a bit different that most. Instead of rubber grips, it has steel grips with the Savage indian head logo on it. It has a serial number of 87XX. It is in pretty good shape, I would say 90% of the blueing on it. We wonder what the value of it would be. I have attached a couple of pictures. Thanks in advance.

The Blue Book says they used the steel grips until # 10,980. They are seldom seen today, but seem to bring no special premium. The retail value of a 1907 in 90% would be around $300, maybe a bit more with those grips.
Two notes of possible interest. Be careful if you ever remove Savage hard rubber grips, as they have become brittle and many are broken in attempts to remove them. Also, the reason for the odd way Savage (and Remington, S&W, etc.) grips are put on is that someone patented the obvious idea of using screws to hold an auto pistol grip to the frame.
