Signed up for Air National Gaurd back in '81. I went thru the "physical" part of the this process and they found a medical problem they would not accept.

I do want to thank all those that have and do serve...THANK YOU!!

As a soldier and a cop. And I consider the second as important as the first.

A VERY LARGE +1 !!!

When I was in practice of surgery, our LEOs were special patients and I was an unofficial department physician - I appreciate their service to the community - have two brother-in-laws retired from the department.

Thasnk you !

beagle1,

I understand the not wanting to join. My lottery number for the year that mattered was mighty low. Felt certain I was going to be drafted, so I joined, so I could make a few choices about how my service time was going to be spent.
But as you say, it was one of the best things that could have happened to me. I'm in no way a perfect person, but I'm a much better person than I would have been, had I not been in.

I signed up for the army but because of a small medical problem they didnt let me past the physical. I have always regretted that and tried to join a couple years later but no go. I was pretty bummed out.

Have you noticed my location?

Living the legend with the 1st Cav for the last 8+ years... after two long years of AIT and DLI. Now I'm the cranky HUMINT platoon sergeant on FOB Warhorse. Most people find it hilarious that I have gone from being the FNG straight out of school to being the platoon sergeant in the same platoon without ever leaving.

The problem with being around such specialized and high-demand troops is you get stuck with the menial jobs... like manning the M2 on one of the gun trucks for patrols.

Have not served. I thank all the people that have every day.

I think the poll might be a bit scewed though, since vets are probably more likely to click on the thread...
I think so, but it does give a lower bound on how many Vets there are, if not what percentage.
