price of powder

Has anyone else noticed an increase in the price of powder ?
I bought a lb of H335 2 weeks ago for 20.75 and I bought another lb today and it was 24.50

Large pistol primers were 34.90 per 1000 a month ago and the same size and brand CCI were on sale today for 29.99 per 1000.

Buy from the wrong place, you do, young Padawan.

2 or 3 pounds and 1000 or 2 primers will cover the hazmat, and then some.

About $30.00 is typical retail, but too much

About $30.00 for one pound is typical at the few local stores that carry any powder (and rarely have what I need).

H335 and W844 surplus are about the same, so I bought W844 8 lbs, from Wideners that after HazMat with no other items, will cost you $85+27.5 = 112.5 / 8 lbs = $14.06 a lb. Plus shipping adds about $2 per pound. That is probably the lowest you can expect to pay per pound through mail order.

Single pound prices are around $20 per pound plus HZ and shipping, so you do not want to buy one pound at a time mail order. If you do, you would be paying $50 a pound.

It is most cost effective to make occasional larger purchases so as to spread your HazMat and shipping costs over as much goods as possible. My per pound costs after allocating all charges was $13.70 for W844 and $21.50 for a pound of A2520 I included in the order.

So, purchasing retail $20 per pound local is great. $25 is not bad $30 is what I paid for Varget locally. I WISH my gun club had a purchasing program.
