Favorite .45 ACP Bullet

What are your favorite .45 ACP bullets to use. What I mean by that is FMJ, SWC, JHP, etc...

I just got 2000 230g FMJ's from MG but would like to grab abother case before the prices go up again. I would like to try some SWC's. I specifically will be feeding them through a Glock 21 SF. Only problem I have is that I have never shot SWC's through that gun and I cant get a small amount to try. They have about a 1,000 bullet minimum at MG I beleive. I will also be loading them with Unique powder. What grain bullet would you guys suggest that would perform well with that powder... I may try out Titegroup as well.

230gr Rainier FMJ and 6.0gr of Unique. Shoots great out of my Sig P220.

Who is MG?

My favorite .45 bullet is the good ole 200 grain cast LSWC. I like it because I tried it, my pistol eats them up, and they seem to be decently accurate. I've tried three different casters and they all seem to work well.

Have you shot lead bullets through your Glock yet? Some folks don't do it, due to the style of rifling in the Glock barrel. Others happily buy an aftermarket barrel. Still others use lead bullets in their Glock, but clean it often.

I don't have one, so I can't tell you how they handle them.

MG= Montana Gold Bullet

I actually just looked and it appears that they dont offer SWC, I thought they did. I will some day shoot lead bullets. As for now, I am gonna get at least a few thousand rounds out of the stocker.

I might just order another case of the 230g FMJ.

You'll need an aftermarket barrel or a new gun if you want to safely shoot lead bullets. Glocks + lead = bad idea.

Thats my understanding too. I have a buddy that blew up his Glock shooting lead.
You can put in an aftermarket barrel easy enough though.

As for my favorite bullet? 200gr Lead SWC, hands down!

I like the 200 lead SWCs also. My new Smith & Wesson 1911 eats them like M&Ms.

For any jacketed bullets, I like the Nosler 185 JHPs.

my preference is Hornady's 200 gr C/T and Rem 185 gr GS, however for 90% of my practice I use 200 gr cast LSWC. and Bullseye powder.

Self cast 230gr TC and Hornady 200gr XTP is all I shoot in my .45.

Depends on which gun I'm loading for. The Para LTC loves 200 Gr LRNF from http://www.precisionbullets.com and the full size Para eats 230 Gr FMJ.

Lately I'm happy with Nosler custom competition 185 gr. I've had good luck with Sierra tourney masters too and Hornady CTs are not bad.

Lead SWC bullets. Cheap and plentiful and will work for personal defense in a pinch better than RN bullets. However I do have to use 230 grain LRN bullets in my 1911 since it won't feed anything but ball profile. (I'm still experimenting with it though.) My Taurus Tracker revolver in 45 ACP doesn't care about the bullet profile.
