44-40
To start with, I have a 44-40 Inter Arms leaver action rifle. It is a very light handy rifle, looks new and I would like to use it. My original Spears book did not have reloading material for this caterage. I got a newer book that gives reloading information for light loads(cowboy action) only. My Lyman book shows reloading information for two groups of guns. It list some guns for the weaker groups and some guns for the stronger groups. Neither group list the gun that I have. I would like to use some of the stronger group reloads and try it out deer hunting, but looking at the end of the barrel, the barrel looks very thin. Does anyone know anything about this gun and the posibilities for hunting?

I would stay with the light loads to be on the safe side, i reload 44-40 for years but mine are for hand guns, don't understand about your thin barrel? did you buy it new? if used someone might did a barrel change.

How does the breech look? That's the end you need to be concerned about. Thin muzzle doesn't mean much.
