I can't offer an apples to apples comparison, but I do have a 686 no dash 6" and did have a Taurus 6'' 44 special. Don't remember the model # but at six feet away they looked extremely like the same gun. Both were accurate, with the Smith having a smoother trigger pull. Then again, the Taurus did have a wider target type trigger that didn't help with rapid shooting as much as the slimmer trigger on the Smith. If most 357's from Taurus are as nice as my .44 was, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one, especially if on a tight budget. I traded my Taurus for a XD45 because I had three 44 specials and wanted to pare down my revolver inventory and got a great trade in price for it. Who woulda thunk it ?
