OK here we go.LOADING THE 7.62X38 Nagant revolver

I've loaded the 762X38 brass but I find it easier and cheaper to use 32-20 brass. So thats what we'll do.Get a set of 7.62 nagant dies(midway has the best price i've found). You will have to lube the brass just a little .Run it in 2 stages into the forming and de- capping die which will roughly make the back of the brass the same size as the front. Then you will need 32 caliber lead(I use "314" HBWC from hornady or wherever they are cheapest).I have 2 loads:either 4 grains of bullseye or 3.5 grains of unique for a little softer load.Either load is plenty soft to work in these magnificent guns as long as yours has been checked by a certified gunsmith and deemed in GOOD WORKING ORDER.Load to an aol of 1.370 and guys and gals you have a perfectly good load for the 762 revolver.

I think you'll need the RCBS dies for the Fiocchi brass. The LEE die set was made for converting 32-20.

My load is 4.0g of Unique, 83g .312 HBWC from Berry's, Rem 1 1/2 SPP, seat the bullet to the case mouth with a roll crimp. Shoots pretty darn good.

Remember that these are old guns and were designed for black powder so keep the loads light.

I loaded up 50 rounds of .32-20 brass awhile back, stepped outside, cocked the hammer... well tried to cock the hammer anyway. The rims were just a few thousandths too thick. OK, now I have fifty loaded rounds that I can't use...
What I finally came up with was to chuck the loaded rounds in a drill press, then use a hacksaw blade flat against the case with the teeth pointing down against the backside of the rim. A quick touch on each of the 50 rounds took off the few thousandths needed, and they all worked perfectly the next time out.

take the hammer block out and using a file, take a couple thousandths off the face. Too much and you'll ruin it, just a couple thoudsandths. Works every time...........

If you want to preserve the gun in it's original condition, order another hammer block from Mark Kubes and modify that one. He had a whole bunch of them and other parts for the NagRev. I modified my beater and kept the pristine one in all original condition. Use a little cold blue on the file job, odds are, noone could tell the difference.

I've got 300 cases modified to fit, and I don't shoot the old war horse much, so I really have no need to modify the revolver.
