Russian shotgun.....help??

I would greatly appreciate any info as i do not seem to be able to find hardly any reference regarding this shotgun : *** ijevsk, made in ussr,, sidexside, 12ga, double trigger, beautiful wood on it high gloss w/what appears to be hand checkering. Schnadel style forestock, highly polished blue/black, imported by universal arms*** have owned this firearm since approx.1970-75. Ir really is a nice piece. It is in pristine condition. Also, what is it worth on today's market? Thanks to al that respond as i really lost on this one. Gz

The Russian guns imported by Universal were pretty much all made by the Baikal factory.
I have a similar SXS purchased a few years later, the IZH-43.
It was about $400 new. Your gun sounds fancier than the one that I have which is field grade.
Try a search for Baikals and see if you can get a match. if you do not get a satisfactory response here, there is a forum dedicated to Russian SGs at Shotgunworld.com.
The Baikal imports were taken over by Remington as their Spartan line.

The Baikals are well made guns and Ishvesk has been making weapons for many years, The famous Mosin Nagant was made at Ishvesk and The Tula arsenals for many years and saw service in WW2 .

I have two M44 carbines and have had several other variants of the Mosin Nagant rifle and they are tough as an anvil.

The steels used by Ishvesk are some of the best in the world and Russians have a very utilitarian approach to building guns and build them tough.
