neck sizing the 30-30

I know one of you guys have tried it. My fired brass fits easily into the chamber and I am tempted to try it. The manules say it causes feeding problems, but if I can chamber it with finger pressuer surely the bolt would close. What do ya think?

Depends, in part, on what you are shooting it in and what loads you are shooting. Lord knows plenty of us started with Lee Loaders that neck size only. Those loads worked fine for several shots and we tossed the brass when it needed full length sizing. I don't see a problem with neck sizing for play and practice loads, but I would use new or once-fired full-length resized brass for hunting loads.

It's hard to lay down rules for the .30-30 because there have been so many of them and they have varied so much. My experience with a Rem. 788 and a Savage 170 may not be relevant to someone shooting a Win 94.

I don't think so!
30-30 brass is so inconnsistant that it is impossible to crimp loads with the die locking ring "tight".

Help me out here Madison. I don't understand what you mean. I don't crimp 3030 at all and have no trouble with bullet movement. I am not sure what you mean that you can't crimp with the lock ring tight. Do you leave the die loose in the press? If so, why?
