I have a wife and three daughters that enjoy scrapbooking. I don't want to scrap book any more then I want them reloading with me. The wife wants nothing to do with shooting, and I like it that way. The sign posted on the outside of my reloading room. "He Man Woman Haters Club"

I don't ask my wife how much she spends on yarn, and she doesn't ask me how much I spend on gunpowder. (I suspect she spends more)

Mrs. Grymster made one cartridge. Took like 20 minutes....

me - insert the case into the press.
her - you mean this thing?
me - yeah, that thing.
her - it don't fit!
me - yeah, it fits.
her - oh, there it goes. when do we put the bomb powder in?
me - gunpowder dear, gunpowder... we'll do that in a minute. pull the handle.
her - this one?
me - yeah that one.
her - OK... now do we put in the bomb powder?....

My fiance was asleep this morning and I told her I was headed to the gun shop to get some stuff, and she rolls over and looks at me with her cute tired eyes and says "get me some Varget. I'm almost all out".

I love that woman!

I feel badly for you. I don't know you from Joe the Plumber, but I just can't fathom this situation with us. She doesn't chomp at the bit asking when we get to reload next or anything. But if she's done with her stuff, she's always asking if I need help. Always nice to have a reloadin' partner. Glad I got a second stool for an early Christmas present...

Wife will occasionally help me with the brass. But my daughter used to help, when she still lived at home.....

Sons never showed much interest until recently... I am teaching one tomorrow.

The wife isn't exactly thrilled about the reloading stuff, and she flat out told me that she'd leave me if I started casting my own bullets.

Of course, hamming it up while reloading (like cringing in fear every time I pull my MEC Grabber handle, like it's something the bomb squad should take care of) doesn't help much. Neither does spilling spent primers out of that flimsy little tray, or accidently scattering brass shavings all over the floor.

She does ask lots of questions, though. I'm pretty sure she could run my CaseMaster, trimmer, and powder scale if I needed her to. We've only been married 4 years, so maybe by year 10 she'll be running the MEC while I reload .270s.

My Pookie knows her way around the reloading room.
We do prep-work together But, we never reload together.
She is well organized and I have the utmost confidence
when I pull the trigger on anything she loads.

We're just getting started but so far my wife has been the quality control department, especially for case prep.

It's been nice to refocus her scrutiny off of me and on to something else

The first time my wife pulled the trigger on a rifle, it was a 17 Rem in 1984 and she killed a prairie dog.

That was before we had kids.

She will cook venison if I put it in the freezer, but after 30 some years, she has her hobbies and I have mine.

Help me reload? I have to wait until she goes to bed to browse a reloading forum. Nope. She wants no part of reloading or shooting.

DW doesn't help me reload...yet. But I was reloading the other day when she came in and said that she could see how reloading could be pretty Zen.

We both agree that shooting is about the most Zen thing we can do (sight alignment, breathing and trigger control, etc) and she saw the same controlled motion in case feeding, primer setting..., etc.

I suspect that at some point she'll want to try it - especially since I bought her a Beretta Cx4 Storm in .45 ACP for Christmas and there's no way I'm keeping her in factory ammo for that thing

Right now all I'm reloading for is .45 LSWC for bullseye shooting, using a bastardized set up of two Lee Pro 1000s. Once she finishes her doctorate and gets working again, that's gonna turn into a Dillon 550 or better.

All the best,
Rob

My wife helps sometimes and very good at it if I say so myself. She grew up with a father that was a very active reloader and shooter so he got her started when she was growing up and she still remembers most of the time she spent with Dad. She has been a good for me in several ways when it comes to reloading and shooting simply because she likes all of it.

I'm guilty too..

I use wife to occasionally turn off tumbler. More importantly, I use her for quality control, counting and packaging. She will at times run every bullet thru caliber guage, and load into a 100count boxes for session counts and ulitmate storage.

She's a good sport and will maintain contract with her indefinitely.

When my wife and I were first dating, my father and I took her shooting. She was pretty good with an AR-15 and she had a lot of fun. Then we had kids and now she hates guns. I did manage to entice her into shooting my plain jane 10/22 in the backyard with her girlfriend this summer. They both had a lot of fun. I old her she needed to know how to use it to keep the coyotes at bay. But now she has reverted to hating guns again. They stay in the basement, along with my reloading bench. My 3 and 5 year old love reloading, however. So there are no mistakes with power or primers I only let them help in the resizing and depriming, but they love it. When my wife asked my 3 year old daughter what she wanted to get me for Christmas, she said "a big gun".

Hahahhahaha! Thats funny! The thought of my wife having anything to do with my firearms hobbies is hysterical! Maybe someday, but everytime I try to get her interested I get a look comparable to Jack Nicholsen playing a crazy person!

I wish my wife would help with the reloading. But then again after being together about 2 years now she has only put 2 rounds down range. Iam hoping she will try my new 22 next weekend.
