Jamie Lee bit the dust yesterday evening,,,
A few weeks back a member posted a thread about the shot that Arnold the Barbarian made to save Jamie Lee Curtis in True Lies.
I took off work early yesterday to partake of a bit of rimfire therapy. Using two wig heads taped to a board at 10 yards,,, I tried to recreate the scenario with the bad guy hiding behind Jamie Lee. I loaded up five mags of ten rounds each,,, Each shot was with the pistol hanging low with a relaxed arm,,, I was shooting my trusty CZ-75B Kadet in DA mode using Federal Bulk Pack ammo. On the very first shot I snapped the pistol up,,, And nailed the bad guy exactly between his beady little eyes. It went downhill from there. Out of fifty rounds: 21 - Killed the bad guy 16 - Killed Jamie Lee 13 - Missed completely Then I tried the same thing aiming with slow fire. Out of fifty rounds: 48 - Killed the bad guy 1 - Jamie Lee lost an ear 1 - Missed completely One more time using my Beretta NEOS Carbine. Out of fifty rounds: 50 - Killed the bad guy So in conclusion I determined two things:
Aarond .

Great thread, sir. While some may question it's merit for this forum, I challenge them to consider that this is a great review of the CZ Kadet conversion.
Sounds fun!

Hello RBid,,,
The evening's shooting was an exercise in snap or point shooting,,,
What I determined is that I'm not very good at it as yet. Next time I try this I will use my S&W Model 34 revolver,,, This is the handgun I have used the most when practicing point shooting. The exercise could easily show one of two outcomes:
But again, it was a fun thing to try,,, BTW, I bought the complete Kadet pistol rather than the conversion kit,,, I was flush for cash at the time and decided to buy both the 9mm and .22 versions of the CZ-75B. I've never regretted that decision at all,,, It's my second favorite rimfire/centerfire combo. Aarond .

But yeah, I shot her,,, 17 times if I counted correctly. You should try the two wig heads sometime,,, It turns a miss into a very bad thing. Or try what my buddy was doing,,, He tried a William Tell thing with apples,,, It was not a pretty thing for the Tell child at all. Aarond .

I think if I had shot JLC whom I think of as a cutie, I'd have had to shoot myself in the foot at least once in remorse!

Hello Tinner666,,,
We drank a few beers in her memory,,,
Does that count as remorse? Aarond .

Yeah, it was the least you could do. I'll have a drink over that too.

I shot an IDPA stage that essentially replicated that stunt; the roughly humanoid target, representing the "wife", was at about ten yards, and the "threat" was an 8" steel plate, set on one shoulder of the target. Draw, and engage the steel plate with one round. If you missed slightly right, or slightly low, you'd hit your "wife". No do-overs.

Hello RickB,,,
Thanks for posting that video.
Out of curiosity,,, What penalty was assessed if they hit the hostage? Aarond .

That scene would make an excellent USPSA stage. I love the part where he steps on the AK and flips it up into his hands. (anybody wanna volunteer their AK for this stage?) One of the things I loved most about USPSA matches were the arguments over hostage hits and whether or not the hostage would have survived. "No man, it's just a flesh wound, he'd be OK" "I don't know man, that looks pretty bad" "Just get a tourniquet on it" Having a hostage in close and tight certainly makes you concetrate on your sights a lot harder.

Next time try this one:
Same set up as above, but From totally behind cover, pop out and hit the bad guy in less than one second.

I think it's a great stage,,,
I think it's a great stage for any of the action shooting sports.
I've seen similar stages set up for SASS,,, But the top shooters don't like them,,, Shoot the hostage - blow the stage. In Archery tournaments you will often see the William Tell scenario,,, But again it's great fun for the also-rans,,, But the top dogs hate losing an entire stage. Aarond .

I'm jealous. When I want to shoot I have to go to an indoor range that only allows paper targets to be shot at.
Next house I buy has got to have some land...

That sounds like a fun outing. If I lived closer to Stillwater, I would pester Aarond to let me come shooting with him.
