Just ordered Rem 700 5R mil spec and looking for scope advice

Like the title says. Just ordered the rifle tonight. Super excited to get it but now I am looking for some input on a scope for it. Im looking at the 650-750 dollar range. Any Ideas or suggestions? Looking to start shooting it out to 200 or so and then as things progress and MY skills become better, I would eventually like to get out to say 6-700 yards.

What are yall's suggestions?

Thanks everyone.

Sorry. I probably should have noted the caliber. It is the 24" barrel in .308 win.

Vortex of your choice. Magnification depends upon what distance you want to shoot. Do you hand load? If so, Varget, SMK 175's, Lapua brass make a good combo.

I have that same rifle and predict much happiness in your future.

Thanks RDuck. I have wanted one for sometime but every time i find one in stock I had other things that required the funds. This time I found one and decided it was time and pulled the trigger. I hope they shoot as well as everyone talks about. I plan on shooting out to a maximum range of 6-700 but going to spend the foreseeable future shooting at 1-200 to get my breathing and trigger work where it needs to be to stretch it out further.

I do not hand load yet. I do have a press, dies, etc. Just need to do some more reading and educating myself on the subject. It will come in time. I honestly think the rifle will out shoot me with factory ammo for quite some time.

-Leopold, cant go wrong with that. And for the range you may want to get one with a parallax adjustment, and turrents/zero lock.

- personally I did not have 650$'s to spend on my rifle scope, i actually got a deal with barska and got the 2nd gen sniper scope on a steal. Its 6-24x50, but i have yet to test it, will shoot it tommorow, but another thing to look into is barska scopes if you wanted lower price range, and they are warrantied.

-but as with most scopes, id suggest to contact the customer support, give them the specs you want and see recommendations.

-And if your going to distance shoot out to 600-700yards, id say zero at 100 and start doing a ballistics chart of the scope. You will need one with cross hairs that have good measured points for drop. usually loading your own roads helps as it keeps consistency. but good luck, and keep us informed
