1894 Winchester mfg. 1898 bullet options.??
i picked up a winchester 94 that was manufactured in 1898 with the octagonal barrel in 30 WCF (.30-30). what would be the best load to shoot out of this gun safely? only plan on shooting it every once i a while..

Whatever you want. The 94 Winchester was the first civilian gun designed for smokeless.

I like to relegate my vintage guns to cast bullets to be gentler on their old steels. The Oregon Trail 165gr gas check bullet is a good one. I load it over Unique, 2400 and H335. Check out some of the articles on Leverguns.com.
