1050 Bar ??

I have noticed on most of the new magnum shells that they are marked with 1050BAR. Can anyone tell me what this means? Is it the new way of telling you the drams ? I like the old way better. 4 dram = fun.

Bars are a Metric unit sused to measure pressure. = 1,000 millibars, IIRC.

i read somewhere that the BAR marking id is for the european/english shooters. someone asked remington why thats on there. the answer was and may still be on their website.

Thanks. I noticed that my older shells have the dram eq. and very few of the newer ones dont use that info anymore. I also noticed a change on the boxes. They have fps now and used to have the drams on them. I guess its time to learn the metric system.

1050 bar is 15228.96246 psi to be exact.
1 bar or "atmosphere" is equal to 14.50377377 psi or the accepted absolute pressure of the atmosphere at sea level.

From Remington:

BAR is a pressure designation used in European markets.

The 1050 Bar and the shell length in millimeters printed on our shells are required by some international government agencies. The 1050 Bar actually references the shotgun, not the ammunition.

Not from Remington:

English proof of a 3" MAG gun is 1,155 BAR (1954) and 1,200 BAR (current).
