Trigger pull stock on vs. stock off

I just installed a Rifle Basix trigger on my Win 70.
After settiing the trigger pull and testing it with the action out of the stock I got 3 lbs.
After I put the action back in the stock, testing the trigger pull weight got me 6 lbs. reading.
I notice the "geometry" of the trigger gauge's relationship to the trigger is of course different with the stock on.
I did the thread lock on the overtravel screw (and nail polish on the lock jam nut).
Is this normal? And is one a truer pull weight reading?

That's sounds like a significant difference, are you sure the new trigger isn't touching the stock?

I noticed that if the rear-most action screw is a 3/4 turn from full tight the trigger pull drops to the 3 lbs. I adjusted to when the action was out of the stock.
Does that mean the trigger is hitting the stock somewhere?

Yes sir, it seems you found what the problem is, now you need to find where it is. I haven't used a Rifle Basix trigger on a M70, but guessing it is hitting the front or rear of trigger.

Still working it.
Right now noticed the triggerlets off at my desired 3 lbs with the trigger guard off.
Looking some more to find where the rub is occurring.

It's a head scratcher.
I took some stock material around the area of the trigger.
Pull with the stock on dropped to 5 lbs now. But I'm not sure if that's due to the sanding or something else.
It's consistent as a torque the two action screws on the trigger guard the pull weight rises.
There's no binding on left or right (way too much space, relatively, in the stock's cut out for the trigger).
Will work more on the front and rear.
I notice that the action at the very end isn't really thick steel.
Could the rearmost action screw me bending that portion down and pre-loading the pull weight spring?

Put some lipstick on the trigger and assembly and replace gently without touching any part of the stock. Then squeeze trigger. Disassemble in the same manner of assembly, and inspect stock and trigger guard for markings.
