Glock 27 and PM/CM40 owners

I sold my PM9 because I don’t think the 9mm is all that great compared to the ease of carry the LCP provides.

I'm giving the PM40 a real look because .40s&w is a significant performance gain over the 380/LCP while still fitting into the PM9 package that I already like and can tolerate for most of the day.

My question... How harsh is the PM/CM40 compared to a Glock 27? <--I have one of those)

I had both PM 9 and a PM 40.
IMO there was a noticeable difference in recoil, even if shooting +p in the 9mm and a softer kicking load (like Golden Saber 165 or standard 180 HP) in the 40.
I can effectively double tap using my Glock 27, not so with the PM40.
I regret selling some pistols, the PM 40 is not one of them.

I would get the mk40 all steel model for more tolerable recoil.

Ah, love the PM 40. It's a little beast but certainly manageable. Can be a little testy from a rest

Well I've owned several G27's as well as a PM and CM9, PM and CM40 as well as several LCPs. I really like the CM series, and feel they're just as good as the PM series of Kahrs.

I've shot the G27 and CM40 back to back. Because the 27 is heavier and wider, it does recoil less than the CM40. With that said, I currently rotate a CM40 and an LCP for pocket carry.

While the recoil of the CM40 is more than the Glock 27, it's not unmanageable. But I noticed something interesting since I was going back and forth as to whether to keep the 27 and try to pocket carry it, or to keep the much more pocketable CM40. I ran some factory rounds through the Chronograph, both the 27 and the CM40 and every single time the CM40 posted higher velocity.

Seems odd because it's a shorter barrel, but it's true. I would guess that the Kahr's different rate of twist, better supported barrel (CM40 barrel is extremely well supported) and conventional style rifling helped out.

Most factory 165's hover around 1100 fps from the CM40 and to give you an example of the CM40 being faster, Speer 180gr Gold Dots averaged around 945 fps from the G27 yet averaged 990 fps from the Kahr. I ran some 135gr JHP Triton ammo and in this case the CM40 averaged about 30 fps faster.

I really dig the little CM40. It jumps more than a PM9/CM9 but it's not unpleasant and it's very very accurate too.

Concedering the g27 is not a pocket pistol why not look at the cw40 kahr. ThCW40 is very close to the same weight as the g27, shorter, thinner, 3.5" barrel and with a metal mag base the same height. Your already are use to the trigger and feel of the kahr but the cw40 offers a full grip for many with the plastic mag base . Its also the same cost as the cm40. Even with a few extra mag that will need to be bought it is lower in cost too. You may also be able to use the holster you have now??
