223 rem. load data?

I screwed up and bought the wrong powder. SHould have bought reloader 15 but found when I got home that I had reloader 7. Does anyone have a cookbook that shows data for reloader 7 using a 55gr FMJ? All I am able to find is for 52 gr sp. of which I do not have. Guess I may have to buy some. The load I am using with reloader 15 is 25.6gr under the 55gr FMJ.

I looked on the Alliant web site, but didn't see a load using Reloader 7. On handloads.com I found one using 20.5 grains of Reloader 7 and a 55 grain bullet that gets 3,080 fps.

My Sierra charts list the 55 FMJBT and RE-7 with a start load of 20.1 and a max load of 21.5 for an AR, and OAL is 2.250". Bolt gun max is listed at 22.5.

RL-7

I really like RL7 for the 223. However IMO RL7 shines with the lighter 40 grain pills. I have not had a lot of luck with RL7 and the larger bullets. Have you considered a lighter pill?? You can get some unbelievable velocity out of RL7, and a 40 grain bullet. Tom.

Have not really considered a lighter bullet as what I have on hand is 55gr. Might look for some lighter, but am trying to stay as close to lake city as I can.
Thanks for the Serria referance. (Have not picked up their book yet. Think I'll ask the wife for Christmas)

You COULD send that RL7 to me; my .222 loves it! Hodgdon #26 shows start at 20.5 and max at 22.5 grains with a 55 grain bullet.

Here is some data for your 55gr bullet and RE-7

Starting load 20.5gr 2965fps Max load 22.5gr 3160fps

This data is from Nick Harvey's 8th reloading manual. He is the most recoginsed gun guru in australia. I will e mail you the page if you like.

Please Approach max load with caution............
