Has anyone found a reliable place to buy .22LR ammo?

I don't mean to be a jerk, but there's no where to find anything, anywhere right now, reliably. It's a combination of luck and strategy (ie. Going to Walmart/Cabelas/etc on shipment day).

No its not,

I have been selling ammo on gunbroker but would like to start buying some .22

There has to be some retailer who is allowing for low priced ammo to be back ordered even if it is 6-12 months out.

I caved in and bought a case of 9mm on GunBroker. Paid way too much, but hey, I can't find it anywhere else. You gotta pay tp play.

In all seriousness, the warmer weather is coming and I'm not going to skip my only hobby because I don't have ammo. So I paid the price.

Wow. I looked at the bid prices on .22LR. I underestimated what the bids would be by a factor of about three.

$100 for a single brick of Federals? Dude you can keep it for that price (translation - this price has exceeded my supply/demand nexus as my elasticity of demand is not that strong).

It can be found online. I've bought about 3000 rds this year so far. You have to check multiple sites everyday. They are getting stock but it sells very quickly. And by quickly I mean in minutes or less. I just bought a brick of CCI from midwayusa.com this morning. Price was about $75 but it was worth it to me to have ammo for me and my daughter to shoot together.

I haven't found anyone that will let you place an order if they don't have it in stock.

You could slip the guy that runs the sporting goods section at Walmart a $20.00 bill and ask him to call you when the shipment arrives. I'm told that's what the independent gun dealers are doing in my area. Just sayin'

Joe, I let the temptation get to me and did sell some of my stash off. I got $115 for 500 rounds of CCI Mini Mag. It is nuts right now. I am kinda scared to shoot because I am not sure when it will become available again. I went to the range this morning and only shot 60 rounds of .22 which is unheard of when I go shooting.

Everyone needs to stop funding the ammo pimps. If we just calm down a little the prices will come down. If you are paying the crazy prices then yes you are part of the problem. Plain and simple. Don't mean to ruffle feathers but the world is not ending. If it is then a thousand rounds of .22s will not save you anyway. I know of a gun show where a guy was selling .22 ammo a dollar a round. A friend was about to tell the guy he was crazy when the guy behind him picks up four 100 round boxes and buys them. Come on... lets stop feeding the ammo pimps.

What amazes me is that most people are cutting back on using gasoline, not going out to restaurants as often, waiting for sales to buy the kids clothes, cutting off their TV service... anything to save money in this economy.

Yet here we gun owners are paying $100 for a box of .22 ammo that cost $7.99 just a couple of months ago.

I understand the law of supply and demand but I'm very disappointed that Midway (from whom I've purchased a lot) would be gouging their customers. This nonsense gives me pause in whether or not I'll continue to do business with them, (and yes I know it's no skin off their teeth if I purchase elsewhere).

I'm curious now. Excluding match grade ammo, the only CCI .22 I have seen at Midway for close to $75 a brick (500) is CCI Stinger for $59.99 (it would probably be $75 with shipping), and CCI Quik-Shok # $74.99. Neither price is really out of line for the type of ammo.

I don't think Midwayusa is gouging anyone. I doubt he was buying cheap CCI ammo. It was probably the higher end stuff. I have seen no example of Midway marking anything up in a way that would at all resemble gouging. Now Cheaper Than Dirt are pretty open about gouging the crap out of their customers.
