Training

What is a decent group from 7 yards with a 9mm or .45 I have not been able to put more than a couple shots on top of each other and feel I need more training. Any book or video reccomendations?

i think if it's in a 2 or so circle im happy,alot of people think it should be 1 ragged hole,but ive never seen it done!

As PaulBK said it's gonna depend on how you're shooting. Aimed slowfire will be smaller groups than draw and shoot or rapid fire. I can manage to keep an 8 round mag from my P90 in a ragged hole not much bigger than a quarter at 7 yards slowfire. Rapidfire, draw and shoots and double/triple taps opens that up quite a bit, but I can still manage to keep most of them in the 9 ring or better. I posted a couple range reports with photos here awhile back.

With that limited info, allI can say is train,train and then train some more.

I was aiming and shooting. Not real slow, 3-5 seconds. But my shots were all with in the 8, except a couple double tap shots. The shots were all over the place inside the ring though. I guess they really werent groups except for a couple here and there.

I think maybe my understanding of a group is wrong. How do you measure a group?

Easiest way is to measure the distance from outside edge to outside edge.

For example...

Mtschust, . . . you don't say why you are looking for the "group", . . .

If you are looking for an acceptable NRA group, . . . 10 or x would be the way to get up that food chain.

If you are looking for an acceptable HD or CCW group, . . . cover the group with a 3 inch circle, . . . you are adequate for most HD or CCW needs.

BUT, .................... in either case, . . . practice can and will make you better than either one. Try starting out with ONLY slow and very deliberate fire. Put only one bullet in the gun at a time.

AFTER you have a group where they are at least all touching each other, . . . put 2 in, . . . and just begin to hurry the second shot.

When all of them are touching, . . . put three in, . . . and again, . . . begin to hurry the second and third shots. Keep working this way until you are doing a full mag, . . . and keep hurrying the shots a little bit more each session.

Don't be afraid to take a cheap stopwatch and time your rapid fire. The actual numbers don't mean much, . . . just use it as a reference to give you a goal of beating the best time you did last time.

You will be surprized how fast your shooting will become better.

The purpsoe is ccw for now. i dont understand your explanation of an NRA group though. What distances should i shoot at
