NRA M1 Garrand

Today is a very special day for me I brought home a new addition to my gun family a M1 Garrand I did not notice it until I got it home but it has a number and an NRA stamp on the barrel and slide. What is the significance of this? The numbers are not the same nor are they the same as the serial number.Any info will be appreciated.I am not concerned if it adds or subtracts from the value of the gun I bought it to compete in CMP matches. It is one gun that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Could what you are seeing is HRA and not NRA. If it is, you have a Harrison and Richardson Arms barrel. HRA is one of the 4 companies that made the Garrands and and parts.

Sorry, but it is Harrington and Richardson.

HRA or NRA

It may well be they are HRA,very faint, and I could very well be wrong about NRA.I wish I could post pics I have never found out why I can't when I have tried. Then again I am not the most computer literate person around either.Thanks.

I thought the NRA guns had some sort of cartouche or symbol of their own, if you are reading "NRA" I bet its either "HRA" as others have said, or some rebuild armory that had similar letters.
