TFL is the biggest & the best online firearms forum and I am really impressed with what an excellent job everybody does in running things smoothly especially since there are close to 7000 members.

I have been invited to moderate a couple of online firearms forums and I was wondering if the moderators here could offer me any pointers on how to be just, fair to all and keep things running smoothly.

By the way, I still consider TFL to be my "home" (in the several months that I've been here, I've developed a nice little following with a number of the other members by sharing what I know & learning what I don't) and after I gain some experience, maybe I'll be honored with an invitation to do some moderating over here

You must have:
An Iron Will.
Fixed Determination.
A Vast Vocabulary.
Superior Reasoning Skills.
Lightning-Fast Reflexes.
Incredible Computer Knowledge.
and a Key to the Staff Lounge.

Either that or:
Be yourself.
Don't try to be an expert on everything.
Seek the counsel of others you trust.
Set a reasonable pace, don't over work yourself.
Think thrice, post once.

Above all: Trust your gut.

Good luck, should you choose to accept this mission.

Include this:
Sense of humor.
Thick Skin.
Sense of humor.
Thick skin.
and some Sense of humor.

You dont have to be a comedian - just dont take everything so seriously... RKBA issues can get one so fired up, so fast... its like a match to a gas soaked - well - you get the picture...

There are two conditions to a rule:
- It must be needed.
- It must be enforceable.

Then the rule must be enforced consistently. It the need for exceptions occurs (and it will), evaluate both the exception and the rule to see if either or both are valid.

Remember the mission of your unit takes precedence over your personal desires.

Good luck, FUD! I'm betting you will do great!

Oh, yeah, that thick skin and sense of humor business sounds like a good idea! Mix in some patience for ... well, you know.
