How did I do?

My dad has a colt series 70 that had a rust spot on the end of the slide.
Whan I told him I would like to be a gun smith he said I could reblue the end of the slide. I am going to give it back sunday and would like to know how I did before I give it back.

I used brownells 44/40 cold blue and 1000g sandpaper. it took 8 hours to get it to look like it does.

Cold blue can be difficult to blend and get a close match, from what I can tell in the pics...you did a good job at evening it out.

ur dad should be proud. what steps did you do to do this? im trying to figure out the best blueing proccess. i use birchwood casey (ganna get some brownells oxpho) and this is wat i do 1. strip the old blue and degrease all the parts with rubbing alchohol.2 take a torch and aply back and forth on the metal until its as hot as if u shot some shells through it. apply a coat with a q tip. then dip it in a cooler filled with ice water. then rub with 00 steel wool and repeat 10 times. and it has never streaked on me or has the birchwood casey rubbed off.

Thank you for the replies. I gave it to him on Sunday. He was vary happy with the job I did.
he is know letting me work on one of his 38 super combat commanders.

I first took all the blue off with 1000 grit sandpaper. Than cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and let that dry. I used a heat gun to get the gun warm than covered it with the bluing and let that dry. when it was dry I polished all the excess bluing off and cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and let that dry and did that 8 time. On the last time I polished it for an hour and a half.
The first coats will look like it was case hardened just keep polishing and putting more coats on.
