First year Centennial (1952) and an early 1970's Model 49, both with Tyler t-grips.
They both shoot nice with non +P factory loads. They look real sharp stepping out with their big buddies ( 1955 .357 Magnum and 1957 MDL 12): Last edited by Bushmaster1313; January 11, 2012 at 10:33 PM. |

I've been looking for a humpback for years. I have a Centennial (042) but I've not found a humpback with the combination of price and condition that I want.

They're defective.
The hammers fell off. I'll give you $50 for the pair. AFS

Chief Special Revolvers
I've always been really partial to J frames with 3 inch barrels. I have a Model 36 with a tapered barrel, a model 36 with a heavy barrel, a model 60 with a heavy barrel, and a model 650 in .22 as a practice gun.
When I started in police work (1981) the 3 inch J frame was a popular choice for off duty & backup gun use among the "shooting enthusiasts" on the City PD and Sheriff's Department who carried Smith & Wesson revolvers as a duty gun. I still qualify with my S&W 60 quarterly and carry it off duty once in a while. I just got the 3 inch 36 heavy barrel back in November. Made in the early 1980s and not shot hardly at all. Cost me $350. I prefer the 3 inch barrels. The longer barrel precludes the use of those guns with a pocket holster, but I prefer carry in a holster anyway. I bought a Bianchi "Black Widow" to go with my most recent purchase. I usually use Bianchi Speed Strips as a reloading device for these guns but I do have a couple of Safariland 371 J split six speedloader carriers that I use once in a while.

"I'll see your J's and raise a K... " What is this, S&W alphabet soup?
J, K, L.... and Felix (the cat) It looks like I have a dead cat there. He wouldn't move, just looked at me and laid back down. He's still laying there, not moving at all... ah the life........ |
