Leather squeak

How do you keep all of your leather gear from squeaking? I have had new, old, cheap, and top of the line, leather squeak and have not figured it out in 6 years of daily carry. (Glad I work in noisy environments

What are your solutions?

How bad is the squeak? Do your co-workers stop doing their jobs and stare at you when you walk by because of the noise? I think that the problem of leather squeak is not a great as one might think. Unless one is listening for the sound of squeaking leather, which can be a pair of boots, nobody really hears the noise.

Jim, it's not loud enough where other people notice, but it is still bothersome to me. If I needed to be extra silent this wouldn't do at all.
As an example: you are in the local shop and rob that is earning it's name. While you are at the magazine rack it goes down. The BG's don't target you at first so you want to move behind solid cover and draw your CCW. With everyones nerves up and senses on high alert how do you do this when your leather gear starts squeaking?
This is type of reasons why I post the question.

several of the holster makers that post there suggested the talc worked into the seams of the holster or belt. The talc provides some lubrication to the layers of leather. When I got new leather gear as a LEO, it would squeak until broken in. Perhaps it still squeaked but I was used to it. However, I was able to sneak up on several "evil doers" without them hearing my leather gear squeak.

Funny thing, I was just wondering the same thing before I checked in. My right dress shoe has a terrible squeek and is really distracting to me and everyone looks up when I walk through a room. I'll try bathing this thing in talk. If that doesn't work, maybe I'll let it soak in 5-30 Quacker State over night.

Good timing for this post. All of a sudden my holster started squeeking so I changed to my backup holster and it squeeked as well. I figure it has to be something with the weather, humidity, or something.

At one time, a little mink oil seemed to help, but not this time. The hyde glide looks interesting, but seems a bit steep at $8 a bottle. How does the talc work and where do you put it on your holster exactly?
