One more before Saturday's show

For CCW, who owns a Glock 36, and what can they tell me about them? I have seen a few touch on them, but I'm very, very interested in this gun as well. Also, what is the difference in price between a NEW box of 9mill, .40, and .45, just cheap target stuff, and new boxes of these same calibers with self-defense in mind?

Use usaammo.com for a floor on factory ammo prices. I find 9mm to average around 20¢ a round, .40 more like 30-40¢, and .45 40-50¢. Those are all local prices. If I didn't reload I would order USA Ammo by the thousand.

Shooting .45 from a subcompact is probably not an amazing experience, though I haven't tried it. I find it extremely "brisk" out of my full-size Beretta and I'm told that it is a soft shooter.

From what I know about you, I would advise starting with a 9mm. See my response to your post in the other forum.

Ammo prices vary on several points, sometimes location can make a somewhat significant difference.

Go out and look around at some shops local to you, also go to Walmart. Compare prices. You need to figure out if finding lower prices online and paying for shipping can save you anything over local prices including taxes.

9mm is about $11 per box (50rnds). 40 and 45 tend to both be around $18. SD ammo all tends to be about $25 for a box of 20rnds

as to your glock, i'm sure i won't be the first one to discourage you from a glock or a super-sub-compact in 45, but you will get a ton of people that say go for it as well. something that small is manageable in 9mm, but really tough to hold onto in 40 and 45. even in 9mm, there are much better options at that price point. look into the walther pps and the cz pcr.
