I need a new scope
LOL Right now I have a cheap POS BSA scope and I'm finally needing to replace it. This new scope will be going on a .243 so recoil will probably never be a problem. The main thing I'm looking for in a scope is power. I just can't get used to anything at a 10 power or under. I have seen some ATN's at my local dealer, but I haven't heard too many good things about them so far. A couple of other scopes I have seen are Leupold, and Zeiss. Tasco had a 10x40x50 that I have seen somewhere's. Anyways I'd like to get your input on the ATN and Tasco because these are the cheaper of the other two. Thanks.

Scopes
I spend some time in the local gun store it has been my observation that the quality of Tasco scopes is spotty. Over all they are not of the quality of Leopould. Nikon makes good scopes. On the cheaper side you might want to look a Simmons. ATN I don't know.

How much ya wanna spend? The Zeiss you mentioned won't be cheap. The model doesn't matter, just know it won't be cheap. I've always spent the extra cash for top-shelf scopes, but checked out a $600 Nikon on the advice of another TFLer, and it appears to be WELL worth the money.
For a lower-cost scope ($150-$400 range) I'd probably go with a Leupold. |

Honestly I don't know? I guess it depends on what all the scope does. If I can find a bullet drop comp in a .243, power adjustment up to at least 15, and a good thin reticle then up to 800 I'd guess give or take. The ATN's run around 400, Bushnell 3200 a little cheaper, 4200's around 400 to 500. I've seen some prices, but I don't know much differences between these.

Thanks for the replies on this scope. I did some searches and I came up with pretty much the same responses. When I finally made it down to the shop today I purchased a bushnell 3200, a 5x15x50. Not exactly the high power that I was looking for, but I guess it will work. Now I am still one scope short because a .22-250 followed me home.
Thanks. |

For $100 more, you could have bought a 3x9 Zeiss Conquest......put that 5x15 on your 22-250, and that 3x9 on your 243.....for deer hunting
Zeiss is a great scope for the price..... If you don't have the cash right now, the lowly Tasco World Class, like the one I bought for $30, less the $10 rebate, is a good scope for the value, it is a better scope them your old BSA......in my opinion |

good choice with the bushnell elite! I ditto greg's recommendation with the Zeiss Conquest for the .243 and the bushnell for the .22-250!
