First time garage sale success. Lets hear your cheap finds!
Well, I have always wanted a chronograph but never really could justify the cost for one. Today, I went to a city wide "yard/garage sale" for our little town. The first booth I went to had a brand spanking new ProChrono Pal unopened for $34. I snatched it up and now I can't stop patting myself on the back.
Anybody have any good garage sale stories that are gun related? |

Longdayjake, yes, I am still so excited I can hardly talk about it, it was a press, when operated it looks like a spider doing push-ups for $5.00. I tried to convince them it was not a juicer, even if it was I told them they had too many parts missing, I saw one advertised in a B&M reloading book with bad reviews, no room so I have it in storage.

New but old stock Lee "Reloader" press for $16.50, still in the original box. I mounted it on my computer desk and use it for the mindless tasks. It's great. (Not a garage sale, though - reloading shop.)

Guess I need to start cruising them. I need smelting equipment and from what I gather on the casting thread buying pots, stoves, ladles and muffin tins new and @ retail is somewhat uncool.

Not a garage sale, but rather a flea market. I scored 1200ish once fired military .38 spl cases and the original M41 ammo can today for $10. If only I reloaded! I bought the can and the brass in it was free.

Never scored reloading stuff, and my Mom did my best yard sale scrounging for me...
The two good ones were a Weaver C-4 scope, new in box. That's currently sitting on my Remington 521T, and a Winchester 1200 with 5 winchoke tubes and wrench for $75.

My wife spotted this sale in the news paper. I got
2 Mec-gar 10 rd .45 mags plus 2-7 rd woth a Bianchi case. An RCBS Rock Chucker Supreme 6 sets of various die sets, 6-8 boxes of shot gun shells-most are collectors type I would guess, also a Mec Jr ???650 12guage reloader a bunch of brass and several reloading manuals with one 50 cal ammo can. Cost me $100.00 I sold the Mec for $50 and went back and gave the guy the money as he was hurting real bad. I also sold the dies and brass and the powder dump (Lyman) and a bunch of the odds and ends for $50 to a friend. That was a nice day-I also bought a RCBS 5-0-5 scale for $7.50 for a back up. It don't hurt to watch the paper. |

Wow. Guess I have a new game to play. I held a garage sale several years back for my dad and it was a hoot! I love watching people and that was the most fun I've had in a long time. Too hot to do it these days, most folks wait til it cools off a bit.

Found this one a couple of months ago,
Dillon Square Deal LNIB for .38 with accessory pack, 1000 - Winchester primers, small pistol, 500 - 158 grain Remington JHP bullets, Large coffee can of .38 brass, 1 pound of 231 Winchester powder, and 2 - plastic reloading trays. The guy was asking $200.00 for all. I didn't have the heart to chew him down. |

Lost of camping stuff for hardly nothing, but my favorites are the guns.
A 25 auto and 22 derringer for $20. I was turkey huting one time and the wife picked up a custom built 257 Rbts and 200 brass. Set up for targets or varmints and I wont list everything on this gun. If I remember right she paid $175 for this $1200 -$1500 gun. Sweet shooting gun. |

Garage sale about 20 years ago. Husband had recently died. Mod 94 win 30-30 @$50. Mod 1911 @ $100, Sportered springfield @ $100. 2 presses, 6 assorted dies, several molds, rcbs scale, uniflow, lyman trimmer, rcbs tumbler, lee lead pot, assorted boxes of bullets, 5 1# cans of powder, a few 100 ct boxes of primers @$250. She had already sold several of his "good" rifles for $100 each.

2 years ago I stopped at a sale and came across Mec 650 and a Rock Chucker setting on a cedar chest that didn't have a price so I asked the guy what he wanted for the 650. He said $60 for everything. I thought he ment for both press so I said I would take it and handed him $60. Then looks at me and says do you have a truck? I thought for a second and said yes but I think I can fit the presses in the front seat. He goes that is just what I felt like wanted to bring out from my reloading room. It took 2 trips to get it all. I ended up with Mec 650, Rock chucker, 30,000 primers, 160+ lbs of powder, 100 lbs of lead, a lyman 450 lubesizer, just about any die set you could think of and so much brass that it would take me 2 lifetimes just to clean it. This is just a small sample of what I got for $60. He said he was moving into a senior live condo and couldn't take it and just wanted to make it would be used and not put in a box and never seen again.

No garage sale but i found a Remington 1903 in a garbage can that was missing the bolt. The wife said what in the hell are you going to do with that,at which point i went downstairs and came back up with a new in the wrapper Remington 03 bolt.I had bought two of them at a show 20 years ago for 2 dollars apiece and had squirreled them away for a rainy day.

I bought a Marlin 20ga bolt action and a Chinese SKS that had been in a house fire for $50.00. I had the marlin reblued and it looks like new. The SKS still had cosmo in it- I don't think it had ever been fired. They both shoot great.
