Springfield xdm 9 compact or Gen 4 Glock 19?
Based on the title, which would you choose? Right now, I'm leaning heavily towards the XDm. I'm trying to get opinions at which one is a better buy. This would serve a dual purpose a ccw and HD gun. It's a purchase I plan on making as soon as I have the funds available.

I voted for both, even though I'll ultimately have to choose!
If I want to make the purchase this year, it will have to be one or the other. But, I gotta say I really like the look of the XD. Glocks are great guns, but I want something different in a 9mm carry gun.

I own both of these firearms. I chose the glock as my carry purely for its proven and established reliability. For my wife's smaller hands, she likes the xd more, but I still have the stock medium backplate on the glock. For some reason I tend to like the sights a little more on the xd, and maybe - possibly - the feel of the trigger. Overall neither has given me ANY problems, they're both excellent guns, and i would say if possible you should just shoot them both and find your personal preference.

Sorry for the double post, but another thing to consider may be capacity vs sight radius. If you plan on carrying the xd with an extended mag for ccw anyway, then maybe the extra weight and barrel length of the glock would be worth it.

I have plenty of experience with both, but the XD has really caught my eye.
Apparently, Springfield has plans to introduce an XD-S in 9mm this year. I wish they had done that last year, though to allow for more "break-in" time. Polymer frame= win! Thin slide and grip= win! 9mm= win!

For me the XDm points more instinctively and feels better in my hand. I would definitely go with the XDm.
Have fun.. |

Another vote for the XDM9 compact.
I've always wanted one, and I own a Glock19! |

I might be biased but...
I voted XDM9. I hate glocks and will probably never own one, I'll just leave it at that. on the other hand the XDM is my favorite model of all time and I currently own the compact in 45ACP, the most accurate handgun I've ever fired period. shot many different XDs in just about every configuration and caliber out there. never had a single failure

Yeah, I know it's going to be tough finding either one.
But I've got my eyes set on the XDm. I'll go with the all-black "tactical" finish- I could care less about a stainless steel slide or anything. I may spring for night sights and/or a laser at some point, as it is going to be a carry gun. Given that it also has a rail, (part of my reason fro wanting it)it gets a tactical light. But i'll only have the light attached when it's on my nightstand. One thing's for sure, CrossBreed Holsters (www.crossbreedholsters.com) is going to be getting my business for the holster!

I voted for the Springfield. But had you polled using the Gen 3 Glock 19, then suddenly my vote would change....by a WIDE margin.

One more vote for the XDm. It pulls up much nicer than the Glock!

XDm 9mm
I think that the XD is a better quality pistol and a better design than the Glock. Also the XD has a loaded chamber indicator and a cocked indicator. The Glock does not have these nice little features. The XD is more money however. But like I always say, you get what you pay for

Glock.
Both would be best, but you can't go wrong with either. |

Glock there are alot more aftermarket options You can get a glock 23 and buy a wolf 9mm drop in barrel and now you have 2 guns 9mm and a 40. I do like the S/A too. Both are good guns. I have a XDS.

I did more than vote for the XDm, I bought the XDm 3.8.
It fits my hand better, points better, comes in 2-tone (slide is Melonited but not blackened), has a totally ambidextrous magazine releases, and doesn't require the trigger to be pulled for removal of the slide. Downside to the XDm is that magazines from prior versions don't work in it. You need to get XDm magazines and not XD ones. Bart Noir

For carry Glock 19. My reasoning is that the grip safety has little springs that if they were to fail you have yourself an expensive brick to throw.

Both
I voted both. I don't see you going wrong with either one.
Decide which one feels the best in your hand and that you would feel most comfortable using so that you will actually carry and use should the need ever arise. I can tell you all day long to go with the Glock based on how it feels in my hand. However, you may think it's too bulky in your hand and prefer the XDM or vice versa. Personal preference. |
