9mm +P Ballistics

Have convinced me to go back to a 9mm for a carry gun. I have carried .45 and .40 for years, but the new 9mm ammo's have proven to be effective in making bad guys lose shape!

Glock 17 with night sights and Surefire X300, and four high cap mags as a secondary to my Colt 6940 Tac rifle.

Dang good combo!

Holster is everything for a good pistol. Safariland 6360 ALS is outstanding for fast draw into high ready with a good punch out! Once its out stays in position Seoul until all secure. Then re-holster is easy once are check clear!

Vickers blue force perfect 2 point for hands free.

full size guns like Glock 17, Sig P226, Beretta 92... in 9mm they have low recoil, which allows for fast, well controlled shooting, and that is an advantage I have always liked. Welcome back to the dark side

lol I was a .4+ type of guy as well. Till I took classes, trained, and weighed my contenders.

9mm is on top!

With good +p ammunition like what's available from Black Hills, Cor Bon or Buffalo Bore I always figured a 9mm would get me through the night just fine as long as I did my part. I load mine with Buffalo Bore 124g+p+ these days but I've carried Black Hills 115g+p jhp ammo with complete confidence in the past and would again. I own and carry .45s and .40s but I'm not convinced they offer a huge advantage over a 9mm these days. Ammunition selection is critical with a .45 too if you want dependable expansion performance. Of the three I think the .40 is probably the most forgiving in that regard. But I like them all.

The 9mm I carry now is a S+W M+P subcompact. Love it!

I'm getting 1250 fps with 124 gr +P Hornady from a 4" G-19. That is only 50 fps slower than I get from a 4" 357 mag and 125 gr ammo. I don't worry about the ammo not getting the job done.

I carry something that mocks +P without being +P
