how far back-neck turning

Ooops should have mentioned outside neck tuner... sorry <edit<
Gents... i just aquired a Lyman neck tuner, fits on their universal case trimer,i have read a couple of articals an threads here, but my question is how far back does one cut from the mouth to the shoulder, unless i mist it, i didn't see any info explaining fully, right now i'm set up using some practice mil .308 cases an have a reasonable depth without leaving a ridge, but i'm not sure if i am going back far enough towards the shoulder, is there a proper distance... ?
thanks Richh G,...

I only turn the inside of the necks, but I just do the whole neck. Never had a reason not to.
