Wolf Primers?
I though I ran out of small rifle primers this weekend and so I went out to a local reloading haunt and picked up two bricks of Wolf small rifle primers.
Then I came back home and found the rest of my CCI small rifle primers... about 400 of 'em. I had left them in a different corner of the stash than normal, for some reason. Oh, well. At least I have primers. Experiences? Are they hotter or cooler than other brands? Cups hard or soft? |

I have Wolf large pistol primers and they have worked just as well as CCI and Federal. I have not noticed any difference in performance, but I use these for lower powered practice rounds. I have not had a failure yet, after about 300.

I'm using Wolf small rifle primers for 9mm and .223 reloading. They work fine.

Relatively soft cups on the SR's. They make a 223 SR which might be a bit thicker. My AR loads that were fine with CCI have slightly flattened primers with Wolf. Not too much to worry me, just a bit flat.

I went to a supply shop a few weeks ago and the guy was out of primers. I told him I found some Wolf LP primers at Powder Valley. He rolled his eyes and said he would never sell that xxxx in his shop. They have worked without fail for me with no appreciable velocity differences from Winchester and Magtech.
My experience is limited, but I sometimes get the impression that different brands work their way into people's minds and do rather strange things to their attitudes. |
