Two ?'s re Priming

I have now reloaded over 10,000 rounds on a MEC 9000g. I have almost no trouble with the primer drop (1 failure for 500 rounds, but I always catch it before it makes a mess).
1. Why is there a so much dissatisfaction with the current priming systems for progressives.
and
2. Why is there so much concern about detonation with the current primewr systems. Is it really that easy to cause them to go off? Have I just been Lucky?

I ask because I'm researching the Dillon 650, RCBS 2000, and Hornady LNL.

Thanks

I have a Rl550B and I have had no problem with the auto priming system at all. I'm up to about 10,000 rounds on mine, mixture of .38 .45acp .357mag 9mm.

The priming system does need to be cleaned every 500 or so rounds to prevent the build up of gunk, that can cause a jam.

Dillon shields the user from detonations in their system unlike some others I have seen.

I've been using a 650 for over 12 years now, and used a RL 450 B4 that. Never had a problem with priming.

I usualy clean the priming mechanism whenever I clean the rest of the machine. i.e. about every 3,000-5,000 rounds.

While I think that a few primer "blow-ups" may have occurred, I think most of the stories are urban legends. I would also guess that the few blow-ups that actually did happen were the result of carelessness, lack of knowledge/experience, and/or plain old fashioned stupidity. Just my $.02

I haven't had any problems with the priming system on my RL550B.

Gotta admit I have had some issues with my SDB.

I've had a couple of runs of high primers, everthing fine for 100's of rounds then 5-6 high ones out of 100

Also every so often primer just does not come up to be seated, which of course allows powder to get all in the machien. Need to give them a call on this, just have not got around to it yet
