rem 1187 trap barrel swap.

can i put a 1187 12ga 3" chambered barrel on a 1187 trap reciever that came with a 2-3/4" chambered barrel and safely fire 3" mags with trap reciever? the serial number starts with PC on the trap shotgun. eastbank.

Will the 3 in fit in the magazine? I think the gas ports in the barrell determined the load neded to cycle the thing. We used to put the 2 and 3/4 barrells on them mag recievers so we could shoot the shorter less expensive shells out of it.

Yes, you can put a regular 11-87 barrel on that receiver and shoot any 3" load. The gas regulating system is attached to the barrel.

i don,t know if the trap barrel is lighter, but it fits right on my 1187 mag and the mag barrel fits on the trap 1187. the trap 1187 is heavyier over all than my mag 1187. eastbank.

Might be the difference in the games. My barrel says Light Contour 2 3/4 target only.
