Armed Robbers

Officer Wounded, Suspect Killed in Detroit Shooting After Robbery

The Associated Press

DETROIT, Mich. - A suspect in a robbery at a fast food restaurant was fatally shot by police after authorities say he tried to flee and fired a gun at police, wounding an officer, police said.

The Saturday night shooting was the second of the day involving Detroit police that left a robbery suspect dead.

Police spokesman James Tate told reporters that the officer was shot three times and was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Another officer returned fire, he said, killing the suspect.

Earlier in the day, a robbery suspect was fatally shot by police after authorities say he fled to an abandoned home and fired a gun at police, wounding a reserve officer.

Officers on patrol were flagged down following a robbery at a shoe store and chased the suspect into the home, said Detroit police Sgt. Eren Stephens. The officers surrounded the home and went inside.

The suspect, who was hiding in the back of the home, opened fire on the officers, Stephens said. The reserve officer, who was shot in the leg, was taken to an area hospital and listed in temporary serious condition.

The suspect was dead on arrival at an area hospital, Stephens said.

More proof just how desperate, and dangerous, armed robbers are. Make no mistake about it, if you are unfortunate enough to run into one, it is gravest in the extreme that you have a plan.

Keep alert, Keep alive

Sorry to hear about the wounded officers and wish them a speedy recovery.

Happy to hear two BG's won't be BG's anymore.
