Looking for info on loading 357 MAXIMUM

I am looking for load data using .358 Serria 200 & 225gn MatchKing for use in a 14" T/C.

my personal opinion is that those bullets are too heavy for the 357 max. the heaviest bullets that I used with good results is the Speer 180 grain rifle bullet. the shot quite well but at about 2,000 fps I was getting out of a TC 14I doubt that they would expand very much if at all at hunting ranges just because they were intended for rifle length barrels. I tried some of the Speer 200 grain bullets and it was quite a drop off in both accuracy and velocity.

I should say that since the bullets you mentioned are matchkings the twist is probably going to be too slow in a TC

Thanks, that seems to be the thought (too heavy).

Get your data from the manufacture, not from some nut on line. www.hodgdon.com. www.accutatepowder.com. www.ramshot.com

Catfish, you are so polite in your reference to others. If you were as knowledgeable as you are fast to berate you would know there is no published data for the load I asked about, hence my inquiry. I have reference points from other sources just trying to see what others my have come-up with. Just because one ask a question doesn't mean they are going to take the responses for gospel. Reloading is not new to me, I've been at it over 20 yrs and have asked a lot of questions.

max

Great cartridge!

It performs best with 180 grain bullets.

Check out bellm.com for 357 max info.

I never tried the Matchkings, but it sounds interesting. I have excellent luck in my 14" Bellm chambered 357 Max with either 180grn Hornady XTPs or 215grn 358627 cast bullets over 19grns of H4227 (discontinued!) or IMR4227. Makes an accurate and (relatively) flat shooting IHSMA cartridge.

Load to 100% density or a slightly compressed charge with 4227 powder with whichever bullet style or weight you choose in the 357 Max.
