Any luck with H414 in a 22-250

Has anyone ever loaded up h414 under a 50 gr v-max in a 22-250? I've been working on developing a good load and so far haven't really had any luck. I was just wondering if anyone else was using this combo? I'm shooting them out of a Ruger m77.

Work up to a max load with Reloader 15 and your 50 gr V-Max bullet. This has been a really accurate load in several 22-250's, mine and a few of my friends that tried it also. I use Redding comp dies and neck turn and bed my rifles and using a set trigger and a 6-18 power scope. Anyways its consentenly under .5 inch for 5 shots with a lot of groups measuring .2 and .3 for five shots... one ragged hole at 100 yrds. I went up a 1/2 gr with molly coated bullets too. Anyways good luck reloader 15 is worth a try but I havn't tried it in a Ruger. And keep that barrel clean!

50gr VMAX's and me go back a long ways LOL. H414 is too slow for the Standard Varminter.

What powders have you tried? What bullets have you tried? Do you know how to clean your barrel properly? Maybe your gun just hates VMAX'S. Mine hates Nosler ballistic tips.

I love Hornady, but if you have tried a few different powders with no success, I'd say switch bullets. Try some Sierra BK's or NBT's. You might even want to try a 55gr VMAX as they are a flat base. That flat base might make all the difference in the world. It was in my 243Win.

Berger or Calhoon are other options. Great bullets at "competitive" prices.

The H414 is some powder a friend had and I was just checking to see if I could get anything to shoot good with it because he hadn't had any luck. I loaded up some with h4895 today and those all shot groups 1/2 the size of the h414. Still not great groups but for a start it wasn't to bad. Yeah I know how to clean the barrel and keep the gun in good working order. I Just don't think the h414 is going to work very well since the h4895 halved the groups on my first try and I only worked up a couple of grains and they were all better then the best h414. I have some 55 grain v-max bullets I'm going to do a little playing with and see if that works at all. If not at least it wasn't me that bought the powder.

My 77V .22-250 does very well with H414 but I think you have a better chance on average of best accuracy with extruded powder. My .308 and best .223 definitely do that.
