Success - Mule Deer

The deer numbers are low this year in Utah. Our heavy snow from 2 winters ago is being blamed. I was glad to get this mule deer this morning.

Our numbers seemed down in Oregon (at least where I was hunting) as well. I thought it might just be because the weather is later this year. Normally we are fighting snow and rain, this year was sunny and warm. Deer were just not moving around much.

Nice deer!

The hunt ends this Sunday and I was starting to get a bit discouraged. I haven't seen anything this year. It has been very warm as in 70 degrees lately. There just haven't been many deer so I was happy when this one came out.

I estimated him at 130 lbs~ after gutting give a take a few. My wife also shot a little 2 point on the last night of the hunt. It was her first hunt and her first deer. This one was under 100 lbs after gutting.
