Super blackhawk load gate issue

Why does my loading gate come open when firing my hand loads?
Is something worn or maybe load is to hot. 210grn hp 28 gr h110. This problem only happens maybe every third shot sometimes forth.
I dont have sticky cartridge problems or primer bulges. I have shot this same load with 240 gr until this started happening so thought maybe a lighter projectile would help but it did not.

How does it feel any other time? You may need a new spring.

There's a spring in there that, among other things, holds the loading gate closed.

Like others have said it could be the spring has lost it's tension, but you can also check the gate to see if its worn.

Take your cylinder out and eyeball the gate hinge while you open and close the gate. Make sure the end of the spring is not overlapping the recess on the gate. The spring is designed to glide in this groove/recess over a high spot on the groove. If this high spot, or spring, is worn down the gate may lose its ability to stay firmly closed.

note: You will only see the end of the spring, the spring itself is housed in the frame.

The only thing it can be is a worn or broken spring, or excessive wear on the loading gate pivot.
Loading gate issues are unheard of on Ruger Blackhawks...sounds like someone may have included the loading gate and spring in some sort of action improvement project.

I had a 5.5" Super that would do the same thing with a 265 gr Hornady FP in a hot hand load with 2400. I sent it back to Ruger and they put a stiffer spring, this fixed the problem, no charge, but a real bugger to open!
