I sorted through my .45 ACP brass last night, most of which I turned into once-fired brass myself. I do have some strays I picked up at the range, and noticed that some of them had a headstamp "W W C 88", or 92, or 99. I take the numbers to mean the year of manufacture. Who made these?

Also, I don't have a lot of brass. Can someone tell me a good place to order some? I'm a little leery of once-fired when I don't know the source, because "once-fired" might be somebody's tenth generation reload.

I believe that WWC is Winchester Western Co. You are correct on the year of manufacture. Quite often this brass has the primer cimped in so you might want to check that out.

Wideners has some pretty good deals on one time shot brass. I have delt with them quite a bit and they are honest and very pleasant to deal with.

You might also try Midway. They have some fairly good prices on stuff and we all know their reputation.

If you're curious about headstamps, check out this site http://members.home.net/cstein0/heads.htm
You can usually find used brass on eBay, sometime price plus shipping can get high so beware.

Marshal:

I know a guy a few hours from here who has a few lots of 400+ pieces of reloaded once .45 ACP. It's old and dusty and not bright but has been stored under dry conditions and ain't anywhere near *green* & gunky.

If you're west of the Rockies it may be worthwhile for you to pick up some of his brass. He used to shoot bullseye and still has (for him) a lifetime supply of loaded ammo. IIRC, he mostly has lots of WCC and Rem-UMC brass.

I think his price is $6/100 and split the actual UPS shipping.

Want me to check on this for you?

Cheapo, I'm well east of the Rockies, but I appreciate the offer. Thanks to everybody for the suggestions. It gives me something to work with.
