Noticed no one mentioned a Howa 1500. What is everyone's opinion on their scoped packages with the fluted heavy barrel?

Change of plan. After shooting two Savages this past weekend my mind is made up. Model 110/10 FCP HS Precision 300 Win Mag all the way.

I was going to second (third, fourth, fifth, whatever) the notion on the FCP-k which is what I bench shoot with but I see you've already made your decision. I know you wont be dissapointed .

Just curioius, any particular reason you chose 300 win mag?

MrGoodwrench,
Shooting the Model 110/10 FCP HS Precision 300 just impressed the heck out of me. I'm sure the FCP-k would as well. At this point neither is out of the question Whether .308 or 300..I have some time to think about that too (tax return $$ buying it). Tough decisions..but great options.

.308 sniper/target set up?

No question you will love your Savage, whatever you shoot out of it!
All the best.

Howa 1500s are usually very accurate rifles. I don't like "package" deals because they usually come with a crappy scope, or at least a scope that I wouldn't choose for my rifle.

nice choice! it was down to the savage and remington 700 for me, and i went the other way in the end. i really like the short bull barrel on the sps tactical aac model. a little lighter and more maneuverable lets me lug it around a little easier.

Last week I assembled my new XLR chassis to my Savage 10FCP-K and took it to the range to zero it in. Here's the result at 115 yards. I used Federal GMM 168gr BTHP ammo.

Will be going a lot farther after I get some experience with reloading.
