Hit the wall, that's all!

I was in the middle of loading a batch of around 200 .45's. Got 30 primed and the card was empty. Says to myself, you got another brick in the lock-up. Went to the lock-up all I have is another 3 bricks of small pistol!!!! Dayam, how could I be so careless, especially since I was at the gun shop this past Friday.

I Hit the wall!

Yeah. As we get older memory is the second thing to go.

But it does have some advantages, last Easter I got to hide my own Easter Eggs.

Well, I got time to head through a "look-see" at "Grices", "Bob's Army Navy", maybe "Mahoning Milling", "Mahaffey Hardware" and just possibly "Belding & Mull" today. All within about 45 minutes of each other and about 30 minutes from me.

All I got to do is remember to go and then where to go!

This is the main reason I have all of my bullets, powders and primers accounted for in an excel spreadsheet. I load 7 different calibers, and have enough components to load about 14K rounds, Excel is a huge help in keeping track.

seriously... I have all my lists on my puter... only trouble is, my puter isn't in my reloading room, so there is a big disconnect between my reloading room, & my puter ( that would be me

Index cards ? Write stuff down with a pencil ? Umm , all set with that. Like I said Excel spreadsheet keeps an accurate count (this pic is a bit old, there's an additional 14# of misc powder not pictured)

Right now, I'm sitting on about 17,000 primers. I only load pistol. I never go below about 1200 or so of the "Four CCI's." And when I get down to 2000 WSP's (which I only use for my competition revolver with a trigger job), I buy another 5000.

I don't ever want to run out of primers. That would be the most frustrating - having bullets n powder, but no primers.

Amen to that, worst case, least I could and load up some wax or hot glue bullets and get a little relief.....

Just like .22LR , the second item to fly off the shelves immediately following a panic incident is primers. I too try to balance my reloading components stash with small weekly purchases. My plan is to be able to shoot normally for a 3 year period with a no ammo or RL components availability situation. Worst case scenario is I will need to tear open some millsurp spam cans I have stashed in the absence of reloading stuff. It's simply all about pre-planning in this day and age of stupid gun panics...

generally if I run out of components... I switch calibers... though a couple years ago, when you couldn't buy primers, I took the summer off from CAS... I had enough primers to shoot CAS, but no extra, & I refuse to shoot up the last of any ammo or component, if I can't immediately replace it

Clinton era shortage of primers I bought a 32 caliber flint lock, just so I'd have something to shoot
