steel case question

hey guys, im new to reloading and have a bunch of .223 and 7.63x39 steel cases. i was wondering if the are suitable for reloading or not. if they arent ill stop pickin them up avter shooting them.

Don't bother.

Brass cases are easily available in both calibers.

Reloading steel cases, while it can be done, is just a pain in the ass.

Red, pick them up anyway and throw them in the trash. I know a club that has had to buy several tires for the tractor used to mow the range because those cases will take an unrepairable plug out of a tire.

I agree with the others. Many years ago, I was given a case of steel cased USGI .45 ACP surplus ammo. I reloaded the cases a couple of times, because I couldn't afford not to.

But believe me, it isn't worth the hassle!

Used to reload Wolf steel cases, until two with small flash holes removed the depriming pin from the depriming rod in the die and stuck in the shell holder tieing up the press. Had to use a screwdriver and muscle to remove the case. Dumped the whole lot of steal, and won't use them again.

The last Wolf cases I saw where boxer primed, I accidentally sized/deprimed one.
As for picking up your steel cases, please do, I just came from the local public range today and that stuff is all over the ground, I'll bet (not kidding here) theres at least a tons of it. The ground is literally covered with it, you can't even see the dirt in some places.

Hmmm, me thinks me might go back this week with a big magnet and a truckload of 5 gallon buckets.

Make me a little gas money, and clean the range up while Im at it.
