Best buy for ammo

I bought a Ruger 9mm and the acessory I need the most is ammo! I'm not sure if this the correct forum for this but if it isn't, I don't know where! I am looking for the best place to buy 9 mm ammo. The boxes of 50 are way overpriced. Where can I buy good 9mm ammo in lots of 500 or 1000 and get a better price?

Try www.ammoengine.com for online comparisons
Wal Mart sells some bulk packs in yellow boxes but I can't remember the brand

Cabela's frequently has a pretty good deal on S&B 9mm, $9.99/box and every couple of months they either run free shipping on orders over X(usually ~$99) or some amount off orders over X(also around $99-150) usually negates all or almost all of the shipping cost on ammo.

They're currently running the free shipping deal, not sure what ammo is on sale right now though. But when you catch the sale+free shipping its one of the better factory ammo deals around.

1000rds S&B 9mm

btw, I came across it on http://www.slickguns.com which I've found useful for keeping up on who's got what on sale

Ammoseek.com is a good place to compare apples to apples when it comes to ammo.

walmart, ive always used the winchester white box brand and maybe had 1 fail in 1000 rounds that i can remember which is nothing to even discuss. its cheap, feeds reliable and really accurate, powder seems to be decent quality since after 100 rounds my guns are barely needing a cleaning but i clean them anyway, ive even used their 223 ammo and works excellent, i have nothing but good things to say about that box, look into federal as well they carry it too-another great bargain and accurate too, stay away from wolf.

SGammo seems to have the best prices. anything under $10.00/bx in my book is a pretty good deal. If you buy TULammo or Bear or something you can pay like $8/bx but some people don't like that ammo. I have shot anything from high to low end. Depending on what you are using it for or what your expected result is I like SGammo, CTD, though cheaper than dirt charges a little too much for shipping IMO. But usually I just look for deals. And don't always trust the ammo find website I have come across deals that the web search tool missed just simple because the website I was at posted it incorrectly by box instead of case or something dumb.

At bass pro, they sell UMC Remington loads. Its a target load. 250 per box for between 60 to 65 bucks a box.

Google Jack Ross Ammo. They're doing 1000 rounds of 9mm reloads for around $159 plus shipping of around $13.

The ammo from them I've shot has been very consistent in performance. I've got another 500 9mm and 500 .45 on order from them now.

www.ammotogo.com is a good site with great prices, just make sure you REALLY look into the ammo if your buying in bulk. you dont want to buy 200 dollars worth ammo that turns out to be the wrong grain weight. Also in my experience, buying loose ammo isn't a good idea. Stick with brand names, or sub divisions of brand names and you should be alright.

SGAmmo.com has about the best online prices right now and they don't gouge you on shipping. Palmetto state armory isn't bad either.

If you find yourself buying more than a couple thousand rounds, consider getting an inexpensive reloading setup like the Lee hand press.

Where to buy ammo

I have found lucky gunner to have reasonable prices where I can buy in bulk and they ship quickly with good customer service.
