The 92 is a full sized service arm

It's okay for civilian use, but not designed for that. The compact series might be better for you.

I'd suppose the Storm would benefit from more recent design and materials, etc. I've never so much as fondled one so YMMV.

You are better off with the M9A1. Any holster that fits the old Vertec model will fit the M9A1, not all Vertec holsters will fit the 92A1. I have an M9A1 and still have all the holsters available that will fit them from leather to kydex bookmarked. If you go that route message me and I will send you the links.
