Ducks Unlimited - Bettinsoli

I have acquired a beautiful 20ga.

A special edition gun made and sold in 1993. -not a dinner gun

Made by Bettinsoli in Italy.

I am just wondering what you all would say it's worth. It's not in the blue book, and there's not much info out there about it. Obviously it would be worth a lot more to a DU collector than anyone else, but is there a market for such an item?

It is unfired and still has the original paperwork and everything.

Tell me what you think...

Is Bettinsoli in your book? Go from there if so - a person wanting the 20 will not spend more for the DU aspect of the gun.
If the barrels are 28", I would venture somewhere in the 1200 range. If the barrels are shorter, it will have less value.

The action appears to be the same as a Rizzini/Guerini type (and was most likely made by them for Bettinsoli).
Does it have changeable choke tubes? If so, that is a plus to many folks. The 3"chamber is nice but not a real factor in 20 gauge for an upland hunter.
If it has a barrel selector, that is a big plus over not having one.

I found one Bettinsoli on Guns International, but it appears to be built on a Merkel sidelock action, and it is just under 4K - which is why I think 1200 is about fair for yours.

Good luck with it!

Thanks for the reply.

No, Bettinsoli is not in my book. Thus, my lack of information...

According to DU, this gun is unique in that it is one of only 850 made, and it is one of only two DU models ever offered that were not stamped anywhere with the manufacturer name. (The other model was made by Bettinsoli as well.)

I have also read from more than one source (and the DU rep confirmed) that the DU models are worth more than the non-DU models. Perhaps that's not true in the real world.

Yes, it has screw-in chokes -the gun includes 3
No barrel selector
20" barrel, I think

I am hoping that 20"is a typo - more likely made with 26 or 28".

IF the DU rep is correct, then you should be able to compare DU guns to non-DU guns to determine that. You might be comparing Brownings or Remingtons instead of Bettinsoli, but the analogous relationship should be there. I have only see the DU (or any other commemorative gun) worth more to someone for whom that particular provenance meant something
