Finding Bullets
Does this happen to everyone or is it just me? I had ordered a box of Hornady A-Max 178gr for my .308 just to try them out. Well they are great! I have shot them two differnt times at just my starting load and am shooting sub half moa at 100 yards. Something I can not quite get the SMK's to do. Anyway now that I go to buy a couple more box's everyone seems to be sold out. Everyone meaning all the websites I buy from and trust. Like Midway, Graffs and powder valley. They are all sold out. Any other suggestion of places to buy bullets?

You might try Cabelas, Wideners, or Midsouth. Somebody's bound to have 'em.
Nice groups, btw. The A-Maxes are definitely capable of that on a regular basis. |

Companies run batches when the set the tooling up. If your gun prefers those to the 175 grain Sierras and you can't find them around, call Hornady and ask when they next expect to ship some and to whom.

When I can't find the 178 gr. Hornady Amax I buy the 180 gr. Sierra SP. They seem to have the same bullet dimensions, and they shoot the exact same in my Remington 700. I load them exactly the same with identical charge, brass, primer, etc ... and I can duplicate the results between bullets.
I think the bullet is called a Sierra Pro-Hunter 180gr. SPT #2150. I've ordered it so many times I have it memorized. An added benefit to using the 180 gr. SP is that I can use them for hunting. Although, if you are dead set on Hornady the 180 gr. SST has similar capabilities. It's really 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other in my opinion. Whichever is cheaper ... buy them. There is only a true 1 to 1.5 grain difference in most of them anyway.

Local store in central mississippi. FANTASTIC customer service, really good stock of reloading supplies. If they don't have what you need they'll order it. If you have questions they'll get the answers.
